5.0 Auto update

Electron's auto-updater functionality is used to automatically update Monterey. More information can be found here.

Monterey checks for updates here. Whenever something happens, based on the event it will be notified to the renderer process (the aurelia application). The renderer process can then show the update notifications on screen. Right now this is done via a Toastr message, but this can be changed in the future.

Electron's autoUpdater executes HTTP request to a feed URL in order to determine whether or not an update needs to be installed. This "feed" needs to handle certain URLs (link). Right now the software "squirrel-updates-server" (this fork) is running on https://nuts.jeroenvinke.nl.
